MAJOR AREAS OF RESEARCH INTEREST:

-Cancer prevention and control-Retinoids/carotenoids in oral cancer

-GI malignant and premalignant diseases

-International research in aerodigestive cancers (lung, oral, pancreas, colon)
- Biology of preneoplastic lesions

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:

Laboratory and clinical trials on the prevention of cancer using non-toxic nutritional supplements such as beta-carotene and vitamins A and C; oral cancer prevention; leukoplakia; chemoprevention; intermediate markers; Barrett's esophagus; colorectal cancer; non-small cell lung cancer; hand/neck cancer; antioxidants; role of vitamin E in prevention of cardiovascular disease.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH RESEARCH:

Prospect of participating in projects of direct clinical relevance with the opportunity to make a significant contribution in a short period of time available during an elective.
